Rewrite the Future
Find out why education in conflict affected countries is so important – watch videos of children speaking out from the DRC and around the world.
Around the world, Save the Children responds rapidly to emergencies that endanger the survival and well being of children. Some of our most recent efforts are bringing relief in India, Myanmar, Ethiopia and Haiti.
Ethiopia
On world food day, we reflect on those people across the globe who are being effected by soaring food prices.
Some of these children have arrived to Don Bosco because they've been separated from their families while fleeing the fighting. Save the Children has identified a number of unaccompanied children through family tracing and reunification activities being carried out around Goma. Save the Children has also reached around 1,000 people with non-food item kits so far, which include plastic jerry cans, blankets, kitchen sets and hygiene kits.

Save the Children remains concerned about the fate of children in Democratic Republic of the Congo who are at risk of being recruited into the armed forces. Boys are forced to fight and girls are taken as ‘wives’ by soldiers. Before the most recent upsurge in violence an estimated 3000 children were being held by armed groups. That number is now expected to soar.
